BPD is Participating in "GovDeals" Surplus Property Sales

The Blacksburg Police Department is now set up to sell surplus equipment, such as patrol cars, vehicle cages, etc. on the on-line government auction site GovDeals.com. The auction is open to the public. We currently do not have any items for sale, but expect to have items in the future. We previously sold a 1999 Ford F-350 XL Super Duty dually pick-up truck and a 1995 F-250 XL Utility Box Bed truck , and also several other equipment items on behalf of the Town of Blacksburg. Our department previously sold three surplus Ford Crown Victoria patrol cars, a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 2-dr Coupe, and several pieces of computer equipment. NOTE: Anyone can browse the property listings, but you must register with GovDeals.com as a buyer in order to bid on items.

The Blacksburg Police Department serves the Town of Blacksburg, located in Cherokee County, South Carolina.
The Town of Blacksburg was incorporated in 1888, and has the nickname of "The Iron City". It was originally called "Black's Station".
Blacksburg has an estimated population of 1,880 residents (source: 2000 census), and covers a land area of 1.85 square miles.

Our department's staffing roster consists of 11 sworn Full-time Officers, 8 certified Reserve Officers, and a civilian Records Clerk [See roster chart below for current staffing].

In addition to regular patrol duties, the Blacksburg Police Department has Crime Scene Investigators (C.S.I.), two School Resource Officers, and numerous other secondary positions. Some members of our department also serve on the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department's Bloodhound Tracking Team and various Fire Departments. See the departmental roster below for full details.
